Weekend Recap

11:02 AM

I wish it had been a more relaxing weekend, but it was a lot of fun! We were busy almost every single minute and now I need another weekend just to catch up from this past weekend.

Friday night we went to NOFO with Brandon's best man and his girlfriend. We had a great time hanging out and catching up and the food was delicious! I got the scallops in a basil cream pesto sauce and couldn't have been happier with my decision.

Saturday we woke up relatively early and headed up to Charlottesville, Va for the UVA vs. State game. We were all hoping we could pull out a win since we'd just come off a bye week and Virginia had just had a big win over Georgia Tech the week before. We were all a little nervous to declare the hope we had, but we were able to play a great game and came away with the win! The final score was 28-14. I was fortunately paying attention for most of the big plays of the game, but we were having fun socializing. Having the chance to spend some time with friends that live in Virginia was probably the best part of the day. We can't wait until Chris and Emily move back down here!

Charlotteville is a beautiful city and I just adore college towns. I love the small town feel. Charlottesville has such a rich history and so many presidents lived so close. I would love to go back for a weekend to explore and shop! I also really enjoyed being an away fan at their stadium. None of their fans were rude to us (which is shockingly an exception). Everyone was so polite and helpful in pointing us in the right direction and even after we won, they were still super nice. My only question is why do they have two mascots and what is a Wahoo?

After the 4 hour drive up to Charlottesville, we headed back home. Yes, we made this a day-long, round trip adventure. Four hours didn't seem so bad after we got stuck in traffic on the way home. It wound up taking us 5 1/2 hours to get home. It was a long day, but definitely worth it.

Sunday, we slept in and then drove to Laurinburg to see Brandon's family. They were taking photos of all the grandkids with B's grandma. Even though she has progressed pretty far with her Alzheimer's, I really felt like she could feel that she was around family yesterday. Brandon's mom spends a lot of time with her and you can tell that she knows that she's someone special. After taking pictures, we were also able to go watch Brandon's nephew play soccer! He did an awesome job and his team won 3-2! Gunner played goalie for most of the game and only let 1 goal get through! Gunner is definitely a baseball player, but he's so athletic that he can do anything that he wants to! It also thrills his Uncle B to pieces to see him playing his sport and pulling for the Wolfpack even though his mom is a Duke fan and his dad is a Carolina fan. Do you think they're confusing him enough?! I'm just glad he picked the best team!

Luckily we have a pretty easy week and nothing planned for the weekend (even though I'm sure that will change).
